Green Team Message
It is mandatory that all communities participating in the
Sustainable Jersey Program establish a Green Team.
The formation of a “Green Team” is the first step in establishing a
community sustainability program and is the catalyst for creating an understanding of what sustainability means to our community.
The Green team leverages the skills and expertise of team members
to develop plans, implement programs, and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainable community with their
role being: lead and coordinate the sustainability of the community.
The 2013 Green Team has established the Maywood Community Garden and tree farm located along W. Fairmount Avenue adjacent to Edel Avenue. The Community Garden was constructed
through use of grant funding provided by Public Service Gas and Electric and The Home Depot. Garden beds are being tended by local volunteer groups including the Maywood Senior
Citizen Club, Maywood Girl Scouts, Maywood Boy Scouts, the Maywood American Legion Auxillary and Our Lady Queen of Peace. A few garden beds remain available - please contact
the Borough Clerk, Jean Pelligra at 201-845-2900 x201 if your Maywood volunteer organization would like to participate.
The current members of our Green Team are as follows:
Gregg A. Padovano, Mayor
Arlene Formisano , Recycling Committee member, citizen representative.
Stephen Mosca, citizen representative.
Jennifer Febre, citizen representative,
Tara Grunstra, citizen representative,
Kristine Koenig, citizen representative,
